Ownership

Covid caused many problems but one benefit was the facility people gained in the use of online systems such as Zoom and Teams.  We were able to put this to good use in a series of webinars culminating in one super sized one with several contributors. This raised the profile of the castle sale considerably and as a direct result a potential buyer came forward. Jeremy Hosking has now set up a Charitable Trust which will restore the Castle and run it as an hotel. He has already put money into the Trust and is in serious negotiations with NatureScot over the sale.  He is looking to create good quality visitor accommodation and new accommodation for the castle manager. The Rum Community have raised some issues of concern, but we are confident (January 2023) that the sale will go through.
