Edwin Waugh      The Lancashire Radical poet Edwin Waugh visited Rum at the behest of John Bullough, his patron. The Gerald Massey website gives the text of his poems and prose including that of ‘The Limping Pilgrim in his wanderings’ which begins with Waugh’s visit to Rum in 1882

Grandhotel Giessbach The Hotel Giessbach on Lake Brienz in the Bernese Oberland was the home of Bertha nee Schmidlin, John Bullough’s first wife. Her father was first employed to landscape the gardens then became the hotelier. The Grandhotel was built later and the origianl hotel is now used as staff accommodation.
